Orangeology

Orangeology-the philosophy of the color orange.

The family represents love (red). The church represents the light of Christ (yellow). When you combine the two forces of the family and the church, you get orange.

Two combined influences can make a greater impact than just two influences.

What if the primary mission of the church is not to help the family, and the number one priority of the family is not to go to church? What if they are both designed to work together to show a generation who God is?

PCC has always wanted to partner with parents. Recently our preschool, elementary, and students pastors all got together to brainstorm ways that we can do that better. What are your ideas on how we can 'think orange' at PCC?

Using the movie "Up" as a teachable moment

If you're a parent like me (super busy juggling work, household, sports, homework, etc) then you don't often think about ways to make 'teachable moments' happen with your kids. I'm thankful for fellow blogger and children's pastor Sam Luce from Utica, NY who wrote a post about Pixar's new movie Up. (see the full post here)

If (and when, becuase you know school's almost out and we have to have something else to do besides go to the pool) you go see the movie, ask some of these questions and make your own 'teachable moment' with your child!

1. What is a true friend?

2. What is most important in life?
3. Why do we need to keep our promises?
4. What does the bible say about keeping promises?
5. What is your idea of adventure?
6. If you could do one thing in life no matter how crazy or wild it sounds what would it be?
7. Which character was most loyal and why?
8. What was your favorite part, and why?
9. What does it mean to assist the elderly?
10. What is one way we as a family can assist an elderly person?
